Service Description

Our two-day in-person summer retreat is an opportunity to explore what it means to be an educator and be well. We will do this through activities and conversations designed to help us ground ourselves in our work and our personal values as educators. This is a unique opportunity to think deeply about our practice in a supportive, joy-centered community. What do we mean by grounding in the context of education work? To us, grounding is about: 1. Connecting to our values and being curious about how we practice them within often difficult working conditions 2. Connecting with one another in order to plant the seeds for a thriving community of educators 3. Reflecting on what being an educator means to us as individuals What we will offer space for: -Time to reconnect with your “why” of being an educator -Nurture your spark around education and pedagogy -Tools for sustainability within a challenging institution -Wellness approaches to the question, what do we do when we’re feeling burn out? -Connection and community with other educators -Developing a strong sense of self, educator identity, and purpose Workshop Sample Topics: -Beyond the Educator as Rescuer Model -Aligning Attention with our Values -Grounding Before Whirlwind of the School Year How we will engage: -Art and creative activities -Time to move in and out of nature -Individual reflection -Discussion and connection with partners and groups -Facilitated workshops We encourage educators to consider reaching out to administrators or district leaders in order to utilize funds to cover the cost of this retreat. Some examples may include: requesting building, professional development, and/or union funds.
